You go to Washington for a few years, until you get sick of the dirty politics [ and you make almost $200K/yr. which is more money than you ever earned in your life, plus benefits ], then,  you go back to medical school, on your terms, because you don't need Washington, you have a career.

The presidents of the American Medical Students Association were dying to be elected as Congresswomen.

What did you think I was doing all day ?  I had it covered on both sides of the aisle.

Political advisor, wants to get back in the game, knows the way Washington works.     Check.

Financial backers.    Check.

I studied Congressman Weiner's campaigns, low budget, grass-roots, door-to-door, do-able, cost-effective.  Have budget.   Check.

Spiritual advisor.  Big, bad rabbi,  knows the Middle East, knows the culture, likes to look out for the welfare of women.   Check.

What's she got?  Nothing.  No money.  No family.  No connections.  Nothing.  Nothing, but INTEGRITY !
